I do psychotherapy with adults, adolescents and children over age 6. I also see couples and families. My style of therapy is eclectic with a psychodynamic understanding. I see therapy as a healing tool for emotional distress and a stepping stone for personal growth. Therapy sessions are generally 50 minutes in length.

Psychotherapy for adults is for personal distress, feeling overwhelmed, anxiety, depression, moods swinging up and down, adjustment problems, work related issues, and working on improving relationships. Relationships include marital issues and communication problems, premarital counseling, the process of divorce and adjusting to divorce, and blended families. Therapy sessions are absolutely confidential.

Psychotherapy for children and adolescents is generally for adjustment problems at home or at school. I deal with family dynamics and problems, with divorce issues and with blended families. I also do testing for the diagnosis of ADD and ADHD. Howell, Hartland and Brighton school districts often refer children and adolescents to me for testing and/or for therapy for various reasons, including behaviors at school, problems with peers, friends, and teachers, problems progressing in school, etc. Adolescent and children's therapy sessions are confidential also, although the parents are part of the treatment, therapy goals and are informed of the progress of the child's therapy.
